Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP tackled the Mantova track in Italy for a third time earlier today, as another triple header wrapped up in pleasant conditions. Jeremy Seewer and Gautier Paulin were the only riders beneath the blue awning, as Arnaud Tonus is still recovering from the minor concussion sustained a week ago.

Jeremy Seewer enjoyed a solid start to the Grand Prix – he set the fourth-fastest time in qualifying and was then right in the thick of the battles in the first premier-class moto. A sixth was his final result, so valuable points were gained for the title race. Another race-long battle was endured in moto two, as Seewer started fourth and chased the top three. A pass for third was made on the last lap, proving that he never gives in, which put him in fourth overall on the day. Seewer still runs third in the championship standings, thirty points down on the current leader.

Gautier Paulin had a solid day with impressive speed at points, but the results do not quite reflect how well he rode. Mediocre starts restricted him in both motos, but he still salvaged a seventh each time for seventh overall. The first moto was particularly impressive, as he charged forwards from the cusp of the top fifteen to salvage that result. It was a very consistent day – his points haul helped him jump to seventh in the series standings as well. Just nineteen points separate him from the rider in sixth.

The Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP team now turn their attention to the Grand Prix of Spain, which will be run at the new circuit of intu Xanadu – Arroyomolinos. That will mark round twelve of the 2020 FIM Motocross World Championship.

Jeremy Seewer: “Honestly, my body was not feeling the best today. It wasn’t my best day, so I feel like I did well. Okay, I lost some points in the first one. Luckily, I did not crash or make any big mistakes though. Could have finished fourth and that would have put me on the podium but, anyway, I know what I have and now my main focus is to regroup and try to get my body back to normal. I think I still have good speed, a good bike and good crew to bounce back. It was still a solid day, with solid points and many races still to go. It’s still a long season and now it’s starting to get really tough for everybody. We are still looking good, we will regroup and be ready to bounce back in Spain.”

Gautier Paulin: “My speed was really good today. I had the third best lap time and when I race my speed is really good, I can see it. I had two bad starts today, and that is really the story of my weekend. Two bad starts and it was really hard to come back. In the first moto I came from fifteenth back to seventh, which was pretty good. The second moto was a bit harder. I got like a fake rhythm and my suspension was a bit of a pain. It was really hard to pass and make the difference today. I really need to work on my starts to be more consistent going into Spain.”
