Two weeks before the official start of the 2018 MXGP season the Wilvo Yamaha MXGP squad teamed up for the last pre-season race at LaCapelle Marival in France.
The day did start of well for both Shaun Simpson and Jeremy Seewer as they ended respectively 2nd and 7th in the qualifying heat. For Jeremy Seewer this is the first season on his Yamaha YZ450F and things are looking quite promising for the MXGP rookie. For Arnaud Tonus, things didn’t go off without a hitch. A crash during the qualifying heat would rule him out for the rest of the day. We don’t have any news yet on his injury but we will continue to keep you updated on his situation.
In the first MX1 moto, Shaun Simpson claimed second place, right behind Jeffrey Herlings. Jeremy Seewer finished in fifth place.
In the second MX1 moto, Shaun Simpson finished in sixth place right in front of his teammate Jeremy Seewer.
During the superfinal MX1/MX2 , Shaun again showed consistency and finished in 4th place. The Scotsman claimed both 4th overall in the MX1 and superfinal class. Jeremy Seewer wasn’t as fortunate in the superfinal as he finished out of the top 20 due to technical issues.
The team and riders have everything prepared and ready for the season opener in Patagonia, Argentina. Bring on the 2018 season!
